Meniscus surgery is one of the most commonly performed surgeries. That doesn’t mean it’s a good idea though.
Studies show that it doesn’t usually help and long term speeds up the need for a total knee replacement.
This isn’t my opinion, it’s just science. A recent article published in the New England Journal shows again that “Arthroscopic surgery for osteoarthritis of the knee provides no additional benefit to optimized physical and medical therapy.
As another hit to the arthroscopic knee surgery, another New England Journal study was just published showing that up to 60% of people who had meniscus tears on their MRI actually had NO KNEE PAIN.
So that means you can have meniscus tears and not have knee pain – we can further extrapolate that knee pain IS NOT necessarily caused from a torn meniscus.
My approach to treating knee pain is completely oppotsite from your nromal doctor.
Dr. Josh Hanson in Tampa, FL approaches knee pain from the perspective of Joint Preservation. This means that MRI images are only a part of whole picture. To really restore function to a knee joint, we have to treat the nerves that innervate it, the muscles and ligaments that support it and the bodies ability to manage inflammation around and inside it.
This comprehensive approach consistently provides long term, lasting relief that has helped thousands of people dely and avoid joint replacements.
As always, I’m here to answer any questions. Leave a comment or email me at office@hansoncomplete.com.
