Tampa's Expert in Acupuncture

Whether you want to get out of pain, reduce stress, improve fertility or tackle an autoimmune condition, Neurofunctional acupuncture can help.

Neurofunctional acupuncture is based on the understanding that the nervous system is responsible for controlling all of the body’s functions, including movement, sensation, and pain. When the nervous system is not functioning properly, it can lead to a variety of problems, including pain, muscle weakness, and fatigue and functional disorders.

Neurofunctional acupuncture works by stimulating the nerves to improve their function. This can help to reduce pain, improve muscle strength and coordination, and accelerate recovery from injury and improve function of bodily systems.

Over 35,000 treatments performed. Trusted by 5000+ patients.

This man helped me avoid back surgery and pain management procedures with something highly effective and zero side effects. I had moderate or higher back pain and nerve pain on the bottom of my right foot. Now I am pain free most of the time, with only an occasional twinge to remind me that pain was once my constant companion.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a medical treatment that activates our body’s self healing system and
encourages our body to heal itself. This is done by inserting tiny painless needles at precise acupuncture points and leaving them in for 10-20 minutes. Most people find the treatment deeply relaxing and extremely effective for a variety of problems.

Dr. Josh Hanson, DACM uses a specialized system of medical acupuncture called Neuro-Functional Acupuncture which integrates both Eastern and Western medical principles and allows him to treat a wide variety of conditions effectively.

What to Expect

Can Acupuncture Help Me?

Acupuncture can help most of the problems we will commonly experience as we age. Acupuncture has many mechanisms of action and works on every conceivable body system.

If we could condense all of the ways acupuncture works and all of the conditions acupuncture could help into a pill, the list would be so long and look so ridiculous that you wouldn’t believe it.

How Does Neurofunctional Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture has many mechanisms that target your nervous, immune, muscular, and cardiovascular systems.

One explanation for how acupuncture works is by stimulating parts of the brain that control the release of endorphins, or pain relieving chemicals.

Another explanation is that is helps promote blood circulation.

Another explanation is acupuncture regulates our immune system, which in turn helps reduce inflammation and promotes a better state of overall health.

All of the acupuncture points are around neuro-vascular junctions – this means they are around nerves and blood vessels. The acupuncture pin provides a direct signal to these body systems and that signal is relayed to your nervous system and brain.
