Our Approach

PRECISION BIOTHERAPY

Your pain has a history. Your body has a pattern. Your treatment should account for both.

Across 35,000 treatments, I’ve built experience recognizing how pain, movement, and past injuries connect. Precision Biotherapy brings that experience together with a detailed examination and a range of treatment tools—each chosen for a specific purpose.

01

Understand how you got here.

We explore how your pain started, how it behaves, previous injuries and treatments, and the demands of your daily life. We also establish what you want to regain: sleeping comfortably, walking farther, lifting, training, or keeping up with your family. That gives us a clear direction for your care.

02

Map how your body is functioning.

I examine your joints and soft tissues together, feeling what happens as you move. I test muscle strength and activation, check nerve sensitivity, and look for movements that reproduce your symptoms.

Then I connect those findings: which nerves serve the affected areas, which muscles aren’t contributing, and where restricted movement may be shifting extra strain onto painful tissues. The result is a working map of what needs attention—and where treatment may help.

03

Treat with a specific purpose.

For each target, we define what we want to change: improve joint movement, help a muscle contribute, reduce sensitivity, or support an injured tissue’s recovery.

Then we choose the appropriate tools. Your plan may include acupuncture, focused shockwave, trigger point treatment, dextrose prolotherapy, or perineural injections. The combination follows your examination findings, your goals, and your response.

04

Test the response. Build usable progress.

Assessment continues throughout treatment. We recheck relevant movements, strength, and sensitivity, then watch what happens between visits: what improves, what lasts, and what you can do more comfortably.

If your response differs from what we expected, we revisit our explanation and adjust the plan. The goal is to improve your body’s ability to move, share the workload, and handle the activities that matter to you—even when old injuries or arthritic changes remain.

A Different Approach

Same Pain. More Treatment. Where’s the Plan?

The Conventional Loop

Treat where it hurts. Stretch what feels tight. Strengthen what seems weak. When relief fades, repeat.

What’s missing is a clear explanation of why those tissues keep struggling—and what needs to change first.

Our Approach: Precision Biotherapy

Map how your nerves, muscles, and joints work together. Identify what’s sensitive, what’s restricted, and what’s carrying too much strain. Then select and sequence treatments to improve movement and help your body share the workload.

A clear order of operations. Every treatment has a purpose. Your response guides the next step.

Why Patients Choose Dr. Hanson

01

35,000+ Treatments. Experience You Can’t Fast-Track.

Every patient adds to a deep working knowledge of pain, movement, old injuries, and treatment response. That experience helps me recognize patterns, ask better questions, and investigate connections that might otherwise go unnoticed.

02

Needling Is My Profession. Not an Add-On.

My doctorate in acupuncture focused on orthopedics and integrative pain management. Thousands of hours of training and clinical practice developed the anatomical knowledge, hands-on assessment, and needle skills I bring to your treatment.

03

Experience at the Highest Level. Applied to Your Everyday Life.

My work with MLB, NFL, and MLS organizations has shaped the same attention to detail—whether your goal is returning to professional sport or picking up your grandchild without hesitation.

04

Every Treatment Has a Job. Every Response Shapes the Plan.

I’ve expanded my practice beyond the needle to include focused shockwave, prolotherapy, perineural injections, and other targeted treatments. Your examination determines what we use, where we use it, and in what order.

“This has truly been life-changing. I used to need weekly chiropractic visits for my neck because my muscles kept causing it to go out. Since starting care here, I haven’t been back to the chiropractor in six months. I feel better than I have in years.”

“Changed my life! I get dry needling with Dr Hanson and he has me back to 100% mobility! He is exceptional. I’m 54 and had a hip replacement last year. Lots of sports injuries and aches that come with being active. He is truly amazing. To find someone who actually knows what’s going on in my body and addresses the cause has been a turning point for me! So thankful!!”

“Dr. Hanson is the absolute BEST! I started seeing him in 2019 because I was having chronic migraines. I was a college athlete and am now a hairstylist so I struggle with managing the pain in my back, neck and shoulders. But Dr. Hanson changed my life. He showed me I didn’t have to suffer through the pain and that there is a solution. I HIGHLY recommend.”

“Dr. Hanson is fantastic! I had been dealing with some ongoing pain and tightness in my lower back, glute, and right hip. I had been to see massage therapist, chiropractor, and PT…nothing was helping. After only 2 visits with Dr. Hanson, I am back to running, biking and swimming. Thank you!!”

“I Highly recommend Dr. Hanson. Dry needling has helped my mobility incredibly. I went in a few months back for a frozen shoulder. After a few treatments I can move my shoulder and neck easily. I no longer wake up in pain. This is really given me hope and honestly my life back. Dr. Hanson is professional, knowledgeable and very kind.”

“This guy is a magician! If I could give 10 stars I would. I’ve had shoulder pain for close to two years now and have literally tried everything to remedy it but have been unsuccessful. (Rest, PT, Massage, Cupping, you name it) After 4 treatments with Dr. Josh, my shoulder is starting to feel like normal again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to Common Questions

Is this just acupuncture?

No. Acupuncture is one tool we use. Your visit is built around hands-on pain mapping, orthopedic assessment, targeted treatment, and rechecking your response.

Do you treat the same day?

Usually, yes. The first visit is designed to be both diagnostic and therapeutic when appropriate.

Do I need imaging first?

Not always. Imaging can be useful, but many pain generators do not show clearly on imaging. We compare imaging with your symptoms, exam, movement, palpation, and treatment response.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what we find. Some problems respond quickly. Chronic tissue problems, old injuries, nerve sensitivity, and poor tissue capacity usually need a longer plan.

What conditions do you treat?

We commonly treat neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, sciatica, migraines, headaches, knee pain, hip pain, plantar fasciitis, tendon pain, nerve irritation, and old injuries.

What treatments do you use?

Care may include acupuncture, dry needling, shockwave therapy, prolotherapy, perineural injection therapy, electroacupuncture, trigger point injections, acupotomy, or other targeted techniques.
