Lifestyle and Nutritional Strategies to Prevent Corona Virus

Lifestyle and Nutritional Strategies to Prevent Corona Virus

So I’m getting a lot of questions from family, friends, patients and the 15k people that follow me on Instagram – “What are you doing for the Corona virus?”.

I want to be clear – in no way am I saying this will prevent or cure the Corona virus. It’s information put together based on available research (I’ve combed through 100+ studies in the last 3 or so weeks) and my clinical experience.

The current approach of the pharmaceutical industry is to find or develop a magic bullet – a single drug or vaccine that can cure the disease. While I implore the optimism here, I just don’t see that happening in any reasonable timeframe (or ever because a virus will always mutate). There’s a reason why we don’t have a vaccine for the common cold. There’s a reason why the flu vaccine is hugely inefficient (at their best 50% effective).

If you look at the worldwide statistics for the corona virus, it’s largely affecting people with a pre-existing condition (diabetes, heart disease, etc). When you’re body is already compromised then your immune system will have trouble dealing with any type of virus. Unfortunately only about 12% of America is metabolically healthy.

The best approach to fighting any kind of virus is to get as healthy as possible.

There are a couple of approaches you can take when you fight a virus

  1. Make your body as strong as possible so it can do its job, which is to prevent the virus from replicating.
  2. Make the virus weaker so it can’t do its job, which is to replicate and spread

The good news is that what I’m about to cover will help you do both – improve your innate defense & weaken the virus’s ability to attack.

Specific lifestyle strategies

They might seem simple but they are essential to help make sure your body is as strong as it can be.

  • Sleep 7-9 hours a night, preferably going to bed and waking up at the same time each night.
  • Get rid of the processed foods, minimize the sugar, keep your blood sugar levels stable.
  • Get plenty of phyto-nutrients – that means a lot of veggies.
  • Stay hydrated: ½ your bodyweight in ounces of h2o
  • Plenty of protein so your body has the building blocks it needs to do its job at a high level.
  • Make sure you don’t have any nutrient deficiencies. Common ones include: D3, B12, Mg, Omega 3’s.

Nutritional Strategies

Vitamins / Supplements

  • Vitamin D – 5000 iu per day.
  • Vitamin A – 10,000iu per day. (This is short term <8 weeks, do not take if pregnant or trying to conceive).
  • Vitamin C – 1-3grams per day.
  • Zinc Citrate – 30mg per day.
  • NAC – 1200mg per day.
  • Green tea – 3-4 cups / day.

Herbal Medicine

I like a blend of herbs that include Licorice, Astragalus, Echinacea, Elderberry, Goldenseal, & Olive extract. Look for these latin names:

  • Astragalus membranaceus
  • Echinacea angustifolia / purpurea
  • Sambucus nigra)
  • Hydrastis canadensis
  • Glycyrrhiza glabra)
  • Olea europaea

You can access my doctor’s only, pharmaceutical grade supplement dispensary here (https://us.fullscript.com/welcome/doctorhanson). I’ve added a 15% discount so you can save some $$.

Right now, a lot of suppelments are out of stock worldwide due to high demand. If you can’t find what you need, just reply back to this email and I’ll let you know if I have any in stock or if I can get it from one of my suppliers.

In addition to these recomendations, there is a complex Chinese Herbal Medicine approach that can be taken but requires you work with a licensed Acupuncturist who is board certified in Herbal Medicine. (FYI I am board certified in herbal medicine).

I use an herbal compounding pharmacy to make custom herbal formulas based on the latest research and clinical information from the front lines of the Corona virus in China. It usually takes 5 or so business days for the formula to get made and shipped to your house from our compounding pharmacy. They are slammed right now, so implement the above suggestions first.
